I think mine took off between the ages of 19 and 22 (I’m 31 now), and I didn’t start seeking help until I was 23. It didn’t work out quite the way I’d hoped.
My SAD took off during high school too. My first reaction to that unusually increased “shyness” was to embrace anarchism and nihilism. I’ll post about my life as soon as I’m done with my finals. take care Adam.
I was bullied (mentally) at 12; that was year zero for me although I didn’t become a loner overnight. I think the seeds of a social anxiety were sown then but at that time it didn’t affect me too much as I had a lot of friends and it was prob more shyness.
